It was a great game of rugby which ended with the Waratahs taking the win 20-15 on Friday.
The game started as we expected with both teams coming out to play rugby, something we have not seen much of Aussie sides and more so in Aussie derbies.
It was Adam Ashley-Cooper that open the scoring for the Waratahs when he got over the line for the first try which put the visitors infront.
Foley converted the try and they took and early 7-0 lead over the Rebels. The Rebels came back with a penalty from Cooper to make it 7-3.
Both teams were on an attacking mindset and it gave us some pretty good rugby with great attacks being launched from both side met by great defence as well.
The Waratahs got two more penalties before halftime to stretch the lead to 13-3 at the break.
The Rebels could feel hard done by as a TMO decision overturned a try deciding there was a knock on in the lead-up.
It was the Rebels with some sustain pressure that scored next when they worked it through the backline for Cooper to go over for their first try of the match.
This reduce the Waratahs lead to only 13-10.
The Waratahs got some luck going their way when the referee missed a knock on to score another try and stretch the lead again to 20-10.
This was short lived with the Rebels hitting back quickly with their second try to reduce the lead again to only 20-15.
The Rebels had plenty of opportunities to take the game but some desperate and accurate defence from the Waratahs kept them out in that last 10 minutes of the game.
This ensure a great win for the Waratahs over the Rebels.
