SA Rugby U18 Craven Week – SWD outplayed Pumas

The Eagles had to comeback form an early try of the Pumas to beat them 43-22 at the end.

It was a great game of of Rugga’s as the Craven Week again produce the best in schoolboy rugby.

Venter scored the first try for the Pumas to open the scoring on the game. This was after they pressured the Eagles on their line.

This gave them a 7-0 lead after just 4 minutes into the game.

The Pumas kept playing in the Eagles half of the field and they converted all that possession and field position in another try this time Juries went over.

The Eagles got their first try through Paulo who crashed through the defence the reduce the lead to 12-7 after 20 minutes in the first half.

The Pumas started to give away penalties and that gave the Eagles great field position.

Kiewiet showed his skills and speed scoring the Eagles second try of the match.

Kiewiet got another try just before the break when he speed away but the TMO came in to show the referee a forward pass in the lead up to the try.

The try was disallowed and the team went into the break with the Pumas leading 15-12.

The Eagles had the perfect start to the second half with Michaels steaming through for a long range try to put his team in the lead.

This gave the Eagles a 19-15 lead after 40 minutes.

The Eagles got another over the line again as Kiewiet get his second try after the one in the first half was cancelled.

The Eagles started to to control most aspect of the game as they too their lead to 26-15 after just 45 minute.

SWD were in total control in the next ten minutes and only some handling errors that crept in stop them from scoring.

Rahl was the next man over for the SWD Eagle after sustain pressure form the Eagles.

The Pumas hit back with Visagie that intercept to run more than half the field to give his side a slight chance to get back into it.

With the score at 31-22 it was all to play for in the last 10 minutes of the match.

The Eagles answered back with Volschenk getting over to stretch the lead again to 36-22.

The Eagles showed some magic with some great passing to send Michaels over for another try and taking the game totally away from the Pumas.

That gave them the win of 43-22 at the end.
