The Blue Bulls XV did enough in a hard fought match to take the win over the Golden Lions XV when they beat them 32-21 in the second match of day 2 at the Craven Week.
The Blue Bulls XV showed early dominance on attack and almost got over the line.
They kept the Golden Lions XV pinned in the half but could not convert to points. The Blue Bulls were first to score with a penalty and when Oosthuizen powered over for the first try.
This gave them a 10-0 lead.
We then saw some magic from Botha when he recovered his own kick to score in the corner for the Blue Bulls.
The Lions got their first try through Marquin Uren got over. this reduced the lead of the Blue Bulls to 15-7.
The Lions was building nicely to get back into the game and were rewarded with their second try when Seb Watney got over.
The Blue Bulls had the final say in the half when Justin Cross get one back for his team.
This left the sides going into the break with the Blue Bulls XV leading the Golden Lions XV 22-14.
The Lions was first to score with Van der Spuy that got over the line after some great vision and interplay from the Golden Lions XV.
The Blue Bulls got over the line and the referee went to the TMO as no grounding was seen. TMO agreed and Blue Bulls had a five meter scrum to try again.
The Blue Bulls was unable to get pass the Golden Lions from the scrums with the Lions getting the turnover to exit their twenty two.
The Blue Bulls was next to score as they stretch the one point lead to 27-21 after 55 minutes into the game.
The Blue Bulls put the game beyond the Golden Lions when Lodwig found space to get over for another try.
The game ended with the same scoreline with the Blue Bulls taking the game.
