Griquas surprise on Friday as they dominated with their pack and took their opportunities to beat the defending champions 37-13.

They also outscored the champions with four tries to one to earn a vital away bonus point as well.

The Sharks just made too many mistakes on attack and the old handling problems surfaced again as they just could not keep the ball in hand.

It was the Sharks that started better but a turnover by Neill Jordaan got Griquas to the Sharks line where Zak Burger got over for the first try.

This gave them the visitors the first try of the match and the lead of 7-0 after just  few minutes.

Griquas was building some pressure with their forwards deep in the Sharks half but struggle to get passed that final Sharks defence.

With all the ball with Griquas they forced the Sharks into mistakes.

Both teams tried hard to play in the others half which resulted in a few kicks going down the field.

The Sharks were able to stay in the Griquas half and after a few tries got a penalty out of it which Bosch knocked over.

Griquas was again pinned for not on their feet at the ruck which gave Bosch another shot to take the score to only 7-6 after 29 minutes.

The Sharks were starting to attack form deep bit handling errors was still stopping the progress every time.

It was Griquas that got the next kickable penalty. Whitehead knocked it over to extend their lead again to 10-6.

This was also the last action of the first half as Griquas went into the break with the lead.

It was a great start from the visitors in the second half getting back into the Sharks half and after a high kicked which the Sharks could not secured was left for Michal Hazner to dive on for the try.

It went to the TMO but he decided with the referee to award the try and a 17-6 lead for Griquas.

Another penalty for Griquas made it 23-6 before the Sharks broke finally free with JP Pietersen with Cameron Wright diving over for the Sharks first try of the match.

This brought them straight back into the game trailing now only 23-13.

Griquas then setup the perfect drive from the lineout for Arnoldi to get over for the third try of the match and a 30-13 lead with 8 minutes to go.

Sharks were giving away another penalty which Whitehead kicked for the corner and from another drive Arnoldi scored another try and a lead of 37-13.
