Beauden Barrett complete move to Blues

Beauden Barrett has left the franchise he has been for the better part of eight years and 125 matches in the yellow and black jersey, reports STUFF Website

One of the worst kept secrets in New Zealand was finally revealed that Barrett have signed a four year deal with New Zealand rugby and that he will be playing for the Blues

The decision to move to Auckland was for his family. Barrett wife, Hannah is from Auckland and they were always going to move there.

“It’s a big move to sign anywhere for four years. I knew I wasn’t ready to go offshore and I know I have plenty left in the tank and plenty to give to New Zealand rugby,” Barrett said. “We worked back from there and figured out what would be the best thing for me, my family and for my rugby“.

Barrett contract have some clauses. The first one states that he will be allowed to take an extended break after the World Cup and the second is that he may have a sabbatical in Japan.

Barrett know that there will be challenges but he is ready and up for it.

It’s a challenge I’m ready for,” he declared. “I see huge potential with the Blues. Wherever I go I’ll have my own standards. I’ll continue to try to be the best player I can, and if I can add to what the Blues want to do, ultimately get better and win championships, then that’s what I’m there to do.

“I’ve been around a while. I know how to influence players around me, I know how to be demanding on players, and tell them what I expect of them.
