Blue Bulls captain Lappies Labuschagne will start his 50th Currie Cup fixture at flank, after three changes were made to the starting line-up, ahead of the fixture against the Sharks at Kings Park on Friday.

Labuschagne will fill in for Roelof Smit (wrist injury), while Arno Botha will join the starting line-up at the base of the scrum. Team management will also implement straight swaps in the fly-half and centre positions ahead of the trip to Durban, where Jan Serfontein will replace his former schoolboy captain Dries Swanepoel, while Tian Schoeman will start at pivot ahead of Louis Fouche.

Ruan Steenkamp will start the crucial Currie Cup fixture on the bench and, depending on how the match progresses, could make his first appearance in the competition.

  1. Smit is a big loss, as he’s been a real force at the rucks for the Bulls. I like the look of this team a bit more than last week’s starting lineup.
