Breaking News: Schalk Brits joins Stormers

Saracens hooker, Schalk Brits, has joined the Stormers Super Rugby franchise on a loan deal to provide cover at loose-forward.

Reports earlier in the day confirmed that Brits was spotted at the Stormers training on Monday as they prepare for their crucial semi-final clash against 7-times champions, the Crusaders at Newlands on Saturday.

Brits, who had an outstanding season for Saracens being named man of the match in the AVIVA premiership final, is now set to be included as loose-forward cover on the bench for the Cape-based side.

Initially Stormers coach, Allister Coetzee, called up Baby Bok, Siya Kolisi after Duane Vermeulen was ruled out with a season ending injury, but according to reports Kolisi is also struggling with injury after being mugged on Friday night.

The situation now where the Stormers are missing 3 front-line loose-forwards has cleared the way for them to get special dispensation from SANZAR to include Brits.

  1. Ok, so this is important, cos it shows that the Stormers are running out of loosies, faster than ricky runs out of KFC? :soek: :soek:

Just kidding, it is rather important and signifigant, but I wouldnt go there.

  2. I can allready hear all you capies shouting for Brits’ inclusion into the WC groups after the weekend.

  3. Twitter is a real lovely place JT, u get excited and start crying all in one day. The BS that flies around on twitter provides good humour though.

What RW needs is another brannasnacht. When last did we see a proper brannasnacht?

  4. Surely they should have asked for Ernst Joubert, who is in fact a real loose forward. Or what about getting Pieter Myburg back from the Sharks?

  5. Hoessit, Tjops.

    Interesting.

They would have to clear it with SANZAR though, like with Michalak and Schreuder. Maybe vindicated – they lost Pieter Louw and now vermeulen, not sure what happened to the other VC and u/21 loosies.

    Cheetahs, actually.

  6. Saders are worried about the fitness of Kieran Read (8).
But last time around they beat the Stormers at Newlands
    when missing 6 regulars.

They were also set to arrive in Cape Town this evening
    – two days earlier than the Sharks’ arrival in Nelson.

Coetzee is championing the “conservative” approach, so
I suppose we can expect another boring match from a
    purely spectator’s view.

Because Kolisi (Baby Boks) got fooked up
outside a night club in Cape Town.
He would have been on the bench.

Apparently he was a star. What was the name
of the player you said was useless?

    Mugged he was…

Skosan was the U20’s guy that knocked the ball on three times with try-line begging…

Interesting they have Kolisi listed as a hooker not flanker… neither of these two fit in as Vermeulen back-up… perhaps Eldstad to 7 with Schalk at 8a and Van Zyl to lock… was the better thing to do…

  9. Im gonna get ripped a new one for saying this, but frankly I dont give a t**s what happens this weekend. Im very unpatriotic I know, but I support the Bulls, if they’re not in the playoffs, I dont give a damn.

And all but the lions supporters probably feel the same, they are just to ashamed to admit it, as for the Lions fans, do you even remember what it feels like to play in a semi?

  10. Can’t believe a guy can waltz in and be eligible to play in the freakin semi final.
But I love to watch Brits play and hope he does because the Stormers on offense is like watching paint dry.
