Brilliant second half gives Blue Bulls bonus point win in Bloemfontein

The Blue Bulls put together a brilliant second half on Friday to beat the Free State Cheetahs 34-12 to earn a bonus point as well.

It was a good old battle between the Free State Cheetahs and the Blue Bulls on Friday night in Bloemfontein.

The Cheetahs seemed to have had the momentum and they used the great ball they had to get over for their first try and a lead of 7-0.

The Blue Bulls worked hard to get back into the game as the Cheetahs was dominating the set pieces and possession.

With more ball the Blue Bulls camped in the Cheetahs half and finally got over after sustain pressure.

That made the scores 7 all.

The two teams went hard at each other but did not manage to get that final pass stick and both made a few mistakes on their option taking on attack.

At the break they were still at 7-all and all to play for in their first Currie Cup match.

The Cheetahs had a great start to the second half putting all the pressure on the Blue Bulls and were first to put points on the board after another disallowed try earlier.

This gave the Cheetahs a 12-7 lead before the Blue Bulls got 3 back with a penalty in the 52 minutes of the match.

And it was about there were it went downhill for the Free State Cheetahs. First the Blue Bulls got a great lineout drive and a try was awarded. After a few replays the TMO judges the ball was lost over the line.

The referee then judges that the Cheetahs had come in from the side to stop the drive and awarded a penalty try and a yellow card for the Free State.

That gave the Blue Bulls a 17-12 lead.

The Blue Bulls then kept the ball in hand after the kickoff and created an overlap to score another try to take their lead to 24-12 with 20 minutes to go.

The Blue Bulls kept pressure on the Free State and force a penalty which Libbok kicked over to extend their lead to 27-12.

The Blue Bulls was not done as they got their bonus point try in the final minute of the match to beat the Free State Cheetahs 34-12.

The Cheetahs will be very disappointed in the yellow cards they have given away.
