Finally we can put this to bed now and say goodbye to the worst coach that ever coached the Springboks

SA Rugby announced on Friday that it had reached an agreement with Allister Coetzee to part ways with immediate effect.

The Rugby Department of SA Rugby will manage the responsibilities of the Springbok coach, until the national team’s coaching and management group for 2018 is confirmed later this month.

Coetzee and SA Rugby agreed to terminate the relationship after a two-year association.

“First and foremost we had to assess what is in the best interests of the Springboks,” said Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby.

“We’d like to thank Allister for his passion and dedication to the Springbok cause and wish him every success in his next role.”

Allister Coetzee said: “I have always held Springbok rugby dear to my heart and will continue to do so and for that reason I think now is the time the team and me strike out in new directions. I wish Springbok rugby every success in the future – as I have always done.”

The confirmation of the Springbok management set-up is due to be completed before the end of February.

  1. Hopefully this also means the end of Etzebeth’s captaincy – he was even worse that Bikini Strauss! Not sold in Rassie yet, but fucket he cannot be worse that AC (but that’s what I thought whan Hak Hak fucked off as well). We are running out of decent coaches in SA, and with our political agendas no decent overseas coach will touch the tainted SARU setup.

  2. My name is AC, I write scathing letters, play the race card, call on the protection of the constitution, don’t take responsibility and threaten court action, only to do a complete 180 and resign. Numb nuts.

That said, it’s a pity the whole of SARU did not follow. Cheers AC, it’s been real.

How difficult is it going to be to find a job after that leaked letter?

No numpty, if you had the best interest of the Boks at heart, you would have left ages ago. Don’t try the high road routine now. Totsiens

Yah and I did that in order to make SARU pay me a bigger golden handshake.

  5. Thank the good lord above. Guy is useless. 2 more seasons of that kicking crap. Can we now actually get some innovation ? Give disco lights rassie any day of the week. I do hope they put a performance clause in this time it are prepared to pay him out early if not working. You can’t just carry these useless results.

  6. As I have it and it is only hear say….Rassie and his team of coaches will coach the team till WC, he will identify a coach and bring him in and will take over after WC 2019.

  7. Oh and go Nienaber… the next Bok coach hopefully to bring them back into the top 5.

They need to look at who’s been successful here in SA at SR level and even with limited resources

Guys like Jimmy Stonehouse, Davids (Kings) and Ackermann and Swys De Bruin and the Lions attacking coach. We actually DO have the coaches… our national union just has no idea how to identify retain and manage talent… just like Toetie the Tosser

  9. @DavidS:

Might be why Stonehouse has headed back. As for the Kings… they are gobshite and have not won a single game in the NH (since I last counted). Ackerman and De Bruin speak for themselves.

  10. @bryce_in_oz:

To be fair, Davids did drag the Kings up the ladder in Superrugby only to lose most of his team before the NH part of the season. To rebuild a team in a few weeks with the quality of players currently at the Kings is very challenging.

  11. @Jacques:

Well good luck to Rassie, he really has a stacked deck against him. According to the targets agreed to by SA Rugby, he will have to field a team with 45% players of colour this year and 50% next year. With Coetzee dropping the ball completely on the transformation side, Rassie will have a mountain to climb in building a new team.

  12. @Craven:

I agree on Davids and the Kings… they were playing a great game during the Super season all things considered… their loosies were balanced, their defence good, their backs were enterprising and they were being marshaled around very well by Cronje.

As for Rassie… well the Boks have moved up a place in the rankings without them having played a game yet lol.
