Club news from Danny desk

o-RUGBY-facebookWe had an outstanding year in 2015 and now we are looking towards an even more prosperous 2016. The 2016 WP Club Rugby fixtures have been released and were circulated to all clubs earlier in the week.   The WPRFU Club Rugby department worked extensively to ensure all home and away games were accounted for.

There are a few eye-catching fixtures that will no doubt make for enthralling viewing. In Super League A Kuilsriver host Belhar in their opening game. Kuilsriver blew away all comers last year in Super League B but it remains to be seen whether they can make the step up to Super League A.

In another intriguing matchup, Brackenfell host SK Walmers and will look to cause a major upset in their debut SLA campaign. In Super League B, Collegians host Hamlets at Lentegeur in what will no doubt be a feast of running rugby. Helderberg host newcomers Strand RFC who will be looking to make a big statement.

In Super League C Rangers will be hoping for a fresh start after a tough 2015. They come up against Elsies River United in their opening encounter. Perseverance takes on Temperance/Cities in a derby clash at City Park in the City League whilst Silvertree, hoping for an immediate return to Super League C, host Watsonia.

Although the club rugby season only begins in April, excitement is already building within the club ranks ahead of what promises to be another gripping season. Clubs are in the midst of pre-season preparations with a host of friendly matches having been arranged.

Details of the match ups will be released on a weekly basis by the Club Rugby department. We are very excited to announce that on the 19th of February the Club Newlands Sleepover will take place. Campers can spend the night on the famous DHL Newlands turf where their heroes play rugby.

Join us for a night of fun, food and a meet & greet with some of your favourite DHL Stormers players!
