The Cell C Sharks got their first win of the Currie Cup when they beat Western Province on Saturday 32-27.

After a poor performance against Griquas last week the Sharks had to fight for the win but the big difference for them this time around was that their forwards stood up against Province.

At the end it was the Sharks four tries to the three of Province.

The first half there was not much separation between the two sides trying to breach the others defence and find gaps.

It was the home side that scored the first try of the match when Springbok Mvovo who beat Province defence out wide while they only had 14 men on the field with Philips having some time off in the bin.

Province quickly replied with their first try when Jaco Coetzee got over the line.

Both teams where running with some purpose but it was Kobus van Wyk who got a great pass from Ward to get over just before halftime.

This gave them a 15-10 lead at the break.

It was the home side that had the better start to the second half when Springbok JP Pietersen got an intercept try.

Ruhan Nel struck back for Province and this gave the men from Cape Town the believe again.

They dominated possession and tested the home side till the end bit that was not enough as Craig Burden got a late try to secure the win and a bonus point.
