Currie Cup Preview – Phakisa Pumas v Vodacom Blue Bulls

It feels funny to say it after only two rounds of matches but both the Blue Bulls and the Pumas need to win this one.

The Pumas and the Blue Bulls have lost both their first two round of matches and in such a short tournament they can not afford to loose to many more.

The Pumas is playing their first game at home and it will give them a boost to play in front of their home crowd.

Blue Bulls coach Poto Human has included Marnitz Boshoff and Marco van Staden in his side for this Fridays match with Libbok dropping down to the bench.

Steenkamp will lead the Blue Bulls taking over from Odendaal who is injured.

Sage will take Odendaal position in the midfield partnering with Kotze.

Human also made a number of changes to his bench, with Libbok dropping into an impact-player role this time around. Andre Warner will also get his first run in the competition off the bench, having replaced Ivan van Zyl.

Loose forward Wian Vosloo is fit again and will play off the bench. Vosloo made his Blue Bulls debut in Cape Town three weeks ago, but was injured early in the game and will be keen to add his effort when called upon.

The Phakisa Pumas made three personnel changes to their starting team, with Francois Kleinhans (flanker) being named in a reshuffled loose trio, while Ashlon Davids (scrumhalf) and Chris Smith (flyhalf) form a new halfback pairing.
