Du Toit join Boks

Sharks prop Thomas du Toit has been called up to the Springbok squad ahead of Saturday’s final Rugby Championship clash against the All Blacks.

In a statement from SA Rugby on Tuesday, Du Toit’s call-up was said to be to provide extra front-row cover, while it was also confirmed that wing Raymond Rhule has been released again to be available for Pro14 duty with the Cheetahs.

Uncapped Du Toit has been in impressive form throughout the year for the Sharks, and featured for South Africa A against the French Barbarians in June.

Rhule rejoined the Boks on Sunday after featuring for the Cheetahs last Friday, but will now head back to Bloemfontein, with Dillyn Leyds understandably set to continue on the right wing after a good performance against Australia.

The Bok team for Saturday’s Test at Newlands will be named at 15:00 on Thursday.

  1. Why recall Rhule and then send him back two days later? It is calls like these that make you question Coetzee’s sanity.
