Cell C Sharks v DHL Stormers (Result)

The Stormers got their first away win against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday, upsetting the home side 16-11.

It was a frantic start from both sides trying to get field position and give the ball some air.

The Sharks showed good signs on attack but it was an intercept by Damian Willemse that gave the Stormers an early lead in the match.

The Sharks did most of the attacking play in the first 15 minutes but some handling errors crept in which prevented real opportunities for them.

The Stormers were much better on attack and their set pieces was working 100%, they even got a few scrum penalties.

The Sharks had a few opportunities but missed lineouts and handling errors just stop any attack from them.

They did get on the board from a penalty by Du Preez, but that was cancelled out by SP Marais who kicked two penalties for the Stormers.

The Stormers had a great opportunity to get the second try but Kolisi lost the ball over the line.

The Sharks also gave to many penalties away with receiving first yellow card on a team warning and Am was the unlucky one.

The second came after Akker Van Der Merwe was also on a warning at ruck time and he was shown his marching orders.

At the break the Stormers were sitting nicely at 13-3.

The Sharks had the perfect start to the second half when Am got over for their first try after a good couple of phases. This reduce the lead to 13-8.

The Sharks kept the pressure on the Stormers playing in their half forcing them to make mistakes and give penalties away. Daniel Du Plessis got a yellow card for a high shot which reduced the Stormers to 14 players.

Another penalty gave the Sharks another three points through the boot of Du Preez to reduce the score to 13-11.

The next 10 minutes saw the Stromers with most of the ball in hand but they could not do anything with it.

The forwards will go through a few phases just for some backline player to kick it away.

Really poor tactics from the Stormers.

They did get another penalty to extend the lead to 16-11 through the boot of Marais.

The Sharks had opportunities at the end but mistakes just kept creeping into their play.

The Stormers were able to keep on to that lead and take another win this time away from home.

        2. The Sharks have won all 21 of their scrums this season, the most of any side and one of six teams to still have a 100% scrum success rate after the opening two rounds of action.
