    Cell C Sharks v Rebels (Result)




    The Cell C Sharks got back to winning ways when they beat the Rebels on Saturday 28-14 in Durban.

    It was a tough old match with both teams trying to get the ball out wide but struggled sometimes with their handling of the damp ball.

    The Sharks looked much better than a few weeks ago at Loftus and will be very happy with the win although they could not secured a bonus points.

    The Sharks were first on the board when Daniel du Preez showed superb strength and skill to get over the line.

    That gave them a lead at 7-0 early on.

    The extended the lead to 10-0 through a penalty from Du Preez, but the Rebels hit back with Tom English getting their first try to reduce the lead to only 10-7.

    Sharks kept the scoreboard ticking with another penalty from Du Preez and again the Rebels hit back with a try from Jack Maddocks.

    This gave the Rebels the lead of 14-13. The Sharks did get the lead back before halftime with yet another penalty from Du Preez.

    Although both teams made a lot of mistakes it was the Sharks that troubled the scorers with a try from Robert du Preez.

    With the conversion over the lead went to 23-14.

    The Sharks got one more try by Makazole Mapimpi which sealed the match for them at 28-14. Although the Rebels had their changes the Sharks defence was just too good to get passed in that second half.

    It was not perfect but the Sharks will take it as they prepare for the Bulls next week.
