The Bulls came to Johannesburg and surprised the Lions when they outplayed them to take a important victory.
Taking their points when on offer they always kept the Lions at a distance on the scoreboard. They beat the Lions at the end 30-12.
As we expected both teams came out hitting the ground running with the Bulls enjoying field possession early on.
The Lions was asked more than once in that first ten minutes to make try saving tackles and prevent the Bulls from crossing the line.
It was no surprise then when the Bulls were first on the board with a penalty from Pollard.
They just kept the Lions pinned in their own half and soon extended the lead when Duane Vermeulen went over for the first try of the match.
This came after sustain pressure on the Lions in their twenty two.
Pollard extended the lead to 14-0 after yet another penalty just before halftime.
The Bulls controlled most aspects of the match with the Bulls had made 75 carries against the Lions 32 carries.
The second half started with Pollard kicking yet another penalty to extend their lead to 17-0.
The Lions got an attacking lineout after a high tackle from Specman on Combrinck which they took full advantage off sending Sadie over for their first try.
The Bulls took their opportunities when it was there and another penalty extended the lead again to 20-5.
Pollard knocked another penalty over before the Lions hit back with a seven point try by Dylan Smith to make the lead for the Bulls only 23-12.
The Lions have been their own worst enemy for two weeks now in a row and it did not surprise when they messed up a line-out on their line to give the Bulls another try.
This gave the Bulls the lead of 30-12 with minutes to go.
The Lions tried some more but at the end was outplayed and outsmarted by the Bulls on the day.
