The Highlanders dominated the second half to take a home win against the Blues on Saturday.
It was a frantic start to the game with the Blues doing all the attack in the first ten minutes.
The Highlanders were made to tackle and defend their line. The Blues were creating enough chances but the scrambling defence at times was just enough from the Highlanders.
The Highlanders were made to make 54 tackles in that first ten minutes.
It was Ma’a Nonu with the break to send Robertson over for the first try. This after the Blues have made most of the play.
Robertson try seemed to started the game really going. The Highlanders was next to score when they pin down the Blues in their half for Frizell to dive over.
The Highlanders were on attack in the last 5 minutes of the half with only desperate defence from the Blues keeping them out.
The second half went ten same as the first with both teams giving their all but struggled to get that final punch.
The Highlanders had the better of the possession and territory which resulted in a penalty try when they put a massive scrum in five meters out in the 50th minute.
This gave them a 14-5 lead over the Blues.
With the Blues on attack, Matt Faddes intercept and ran sixty meters to score the Highlanders third try.
The Highlanders were making more of the play and when they did not had the ball they put huge pressure on the Blues to force the turnover.
They were happy to extend the lead when they got in striking distance.
What was very impressive from the Highlanders was to shutdown the key players in the Blues side.
The Blues scored a late try but just were not in it in that second half to get the win.
