Another exciting New Zealand derby when the Highlanders and Chiefs played to a 31-all draw on Saturday.
The Highlanders looked to be well away with the win in the first half but the Chiefs came back and came back hard at them dominating most of that second half.
It was an exciting game for the full 80 minutes but at the end the draw maybe a fare result.
Both sides showed early on that they are there to play the game and score tries.
It was the Chiefs first over the line but TMO picked up an early knock which cancelled the try out.
The Highlanders was first to get over the line when Josh Ioane crashed over for a 7-0 lead. That was short lived when Weber got over for the visitors to even things up again.
The Highlander kept the pressure on the Chiefs and after some phases Ben Smith got over for the home side second try.
With a lead of 14-7 the Chiefs did get one back before halftime to go into the break 14-12 down to the home side.
The second half started with the Highlanders with all the ball and making all the play. It was again that man Ben Smith with a brilliant pass to send Faddes over to extend their lead to 21-12.
The Highlanders started to build again from their own half taking it through the phases and it was a brilliant pass from Aaron Smith to James Lentjes who went over in the corner.
The Chiefs then got one back when Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi got over to reduce the lead to 28-17.
The Chiefs made a a four point game with ten minutes to go when they scored again.
The Chiefs were still coming hard at the home side but gave away a penalty with minutes left on the clock which was kicked over for a 31-24 lead.
The Chiefs as they did throughout the game came back from the kick-off and score a try to make things level again with second left.
Both sides had changes to get the win in the last minutes of the game but had to settle for a 31-all draw.
