It was a classy performance from the Hurricanes when they were just too good for the Chiefs beating them 47-19 on Saturday.
It was a quick flash from the Hurricanes at the start of the match with three tries in the first 15 minutes.
They blew the Chiefs off the field with some excellent play which got Jordie Barrett over for two tries.
This gave them an early lead of 14-0 with the Chiefs wandering what just happened.
The Hurricanes put further misery on the Chiefs when they score their third try through Kane Leaupepe.
With a 21-0 lead it started to look ugly for the Chiefs but with some continuity the Chiefs got on the board when Luke Jacobson bashed over for their first try.
They quickly got back in the Hurricanes half with Ataata Moeakiola this time over for the visotors.
This brought the Chiefs right back into the game but the Hurricanes extended the lead again with TJ Perenara going over to get the scoreboard to 28-12.
It was the visitors that draw first blood in the second half when Lachlan Boshier went over after a great kick and chase from Anton Lienert-Brown that created the forward ball.
This reduce the lead to 28-19 with 38 minutes still to play.
The Hurricanes were back in the Chiefs twenty two putting pressure on the visitors and ended with Goosen going over in the corner.
This extend the lead again to 33-19 for the Hurricanes with 54 minutes gone.
Then we saw the brilliance of Ardie Savea, turning the ball over in the ruck in his own twenty two to get the ball again on the other side off the field to score the Hurricanes sixth try of the match.
Barrett added the extras and took the lead to 40-19.
It was not that the Chiefs did not have ball to play, it was just that they could not hang on to it when they did have attacking opportunities.
It was then time for the debutant Salesi Rayasi to get over for his first try and a lead of 47-19 for the home side.
This was enough to give the Hurricanes an impressive bonus point win over the Chiefs.
