    Hurricanes v DHL Stormers (Result)

It was a humdinger of a match but at the end the Hurricanes were able to close out the game and take a 34-18 win over the Stormers on Saturday.

The Stormers had a good start to the match with field position most of the ball in the first 10 minutes putting the Hurricanes under pressure with their pack.

They were given two penalties in that time which SP Marais knocked over for an early 6-0 lead.

It was a stolen lineout in the Stormers twenty two that gave the Hurricanes their first points when Ben May worked his way over the line.

Barrett knocked the conversion over and gave his team a 7-6 lead.

It went from bad to worst when Jean-Luc Du Plessis was send off with a yellow card for two infringements close to the line.

With Du Plessis off it was easy for the Hurricanes to send Jordie Barrett over for their second try. This extended their lead to 15-6.

The Stormers were making life difficult for themselves with some poor exit kicks, just handing ball back to the Hurricanes to attack from.

The Stormers worked their way back into the Hurricanes twenty two and from a lineout that went sideways Kolisi broke away and powered over for the Stormers try.

The conversion was kicked over by Marias and that made it a two point lead.

Just before the end of the half the Stormers got another penalty which Marias slotted over for the lead of 16-15.

As we all went into halftime mode, Glen Jakson call the teams back for a high tackle by Vaea Fifita. He got a yellow card and the Stormers got a penalty which they kicked to the line for a drive.

From the lineout Mbonambi went over for a halftime lead of 21-15 for the Stormers.

Sure Super Sport will be very embarrassed by this…

The Hurricanes came out with some more determination in the second half and had two chances for points but went for the lineout.

The lineout did not went well but they manage to get the ball out wide quickly to Goosen to get over in the corner.

This gave the lead back to the Hurricanes after Barrett slotted the conversion over form the touchline.

The Stormers got one back when Jaco Coetzee drove over to give them the lead of 28-22 lead but this was short lived as Goosen got over in the corner for his second try.

This reduce the Stormers lead to just 28-27 with 17 min to go.

The Hurricanes was next to score with some great play from the two Barrett brothers. At the end Beauden was the man over the line and a lead of 34-28.

The Stormers had their opportunities at the end but were not able to convert it into points. The Hurricanes were able to close out the match perfectly although they could not get out off their own half.

At the end just too many missed tackles and missed opportunities from the Stormers. They will take a lot of heart from this performance to Auckland next week.
