DHL Stormers v Blues (Result)

With both team gunning for a win the game started a bit slow and not one team really taking control.

It was the Stormers who scored the first points through a penalty to take a lead of 3-0 after 4 min. They had the territory for the better part of the 10 minutes but could not get passed the Blues defence.

The Blues also lost a player with a yellow card after giving too many penalties away in their own twenty-two but kept the Stormers out.

Bot good decision making cause the Blues to take better control of the game and started to play in the right areas of the field.

The game then made a full 180 with Eben Etzebeth being stupid and pushing players after the whistle which earned him a yellow card.

This allowed the Blues and extra man and they took full advantage and scored two tries while Etzebeth were off the field to take a lead of 12-3 after 36 min

The Stormers did get back into the game when Etzebeth returned and were able to score a their first try just as the hooter sounded for halftime.

This made the halftime score 12-10 for the Blues with both teams having to come out much better than what they have produced in the first half.

The Blues started well and quickly moved back into the Stormers half as they easily got over for their third try of the match.

This gave them a 19-10 lead.

With the Stormers with more ball in hand they got to the Blues twenty-two and kept them pinned down there. They finally got over after a kick penalty from Leyds.

This gave the Stormers a 20-19 lead.

Diffie then dived on Kolbe while he was on the ground with his knees and got his second yellow card which then made it a red.

This gave the Blues fourteen players for the rest of the game and still chasing the game.

We then had some more controversy with referee Van Heerden awarding a try to the Stormers with the help of his TMO. De Allende clearly had a double movement before Notshe went from his knees to score the try.

This gave the Stormers a 27-19 lead with 10 minutes to go

The Blues did hit back with a penalty to make the score 27-22 with 7 minutes to go.

The Stormers with an extra man made the most of the ball and kept the pressure on the Blues to take a hard-fought win of 30-22.
