    Sunwolves v Waratahs (Result)

It was a frantic start to the match with the Waratahs putting early pressure on the Sunwolves, but it was the Sunwolves that scored first after an intercept in their own twenty-two.

The Waratahs hit back immediately with their own intercept and even the scoreboard out again.

Both teams were making some ordinary handling errors, but it was the Sunwolves scrums that impressed early on. They were all over the Waratahs in the first two scrums.

The Sunwolves got a penalty from anther breakout which gave them the lead again 10-7.

The Waratahs then hit back with back to back tries which gave them a 17-10 lead, but they gave that lead away with again making too many mistakes which the Sunwolves were happy to take advantage off.

First, they forced another penalty which made the score 17-13 and then they again counter from within their own half to score another try just before halftime.

The conversion was successful, and they took the lead of 20-17 going into the break.

The Sunwolves started the second half as they ended the first and were rewarded with the first points of the half, kicking a penalty to extend the lead to 23-17.

The mistakes creeped in again, but the Waratahs grind it out with the forwards to get Dempsey over for their first try of the second half and the lead of 24-23.

After some sustained pressure on the Sunwolves try line the Waratahs was awarded a penalty try after the Referee warned the Sunwolves. For their trouble the Sunwolves also got a yellow card.

This gave the Waratahs a 31-23 lead after 63 minutes.

With 10 minutes to go the Sunwolves got a scrum and from a great set move Van den Heever were put in the gab and out run the defence to get the Sunwolves third try of the match and made it a one-point game.

The Sunwolves had the perfect opportunity to take the win at the end with an attacking lineout inside the Tahs twenty-two. Winning the ball, the Packer decided to go for the drop goal but missed against the strong wind.

With one of the Sunwolves players offside from the drop, the Waratahs got a penalty to exit. From the lineout the Tahs could kick out and take a narrow win in Tokio against the Sunwolves.

You can call it the great escape by the Tahs and a much better performance from the Sunwolves.
