    Recap

The Vodacom Bulls had to work hard for the win against the Waratahs on Saturday but the win has put them back at the top of the South African conference.

With one game in hand they might just be able to move ahead of the chasing African Conference but they do have to welcome the champion side of the Crusaders at Loftus next week.

The game was a topsy-turvy affair as both teams played some good rugby but also at times some real ordinary to poor rugby.

The Bulls general, Handre Pollard had a better match than last week at at Newlands but his kicking at goal was not on par but at least good enough to give the Bulls the lead they need at the end.

The Set pieces of the Bulls was much better as they dominated the scrums and put huge pressure on the Waratahs throughout the game.

Lizo Gqoboka put a man of the match performance and was the main reason for the Bulls dominance in the scrum.

This laid the platform for the home side and with the great work from Marco van Staden on the ground they had the Waratahs frastrated for most of the game.

Add to that the skills of RG Snyman and the brilliance of Daune Vermeulen then you have the game halfway won.

The Bulls scored two tries in that first half to go into the break 18-7 ahead.

That was through a try form Gelant and Vermeulen. Vermeulen intercept the ball from the lineout and ran all the way to the line but not before he handed off Curtis Rona on his way to the line.

The Waratahs hit back early in the second half with Beale snapping over after the Waratahs camped in the Bulls twenty two.

The Bulls have plenty of opportunity to take the game away from the Waratahs but failed to finish the opportunities that came their way.

Pollard also missed two penalties Simphiwe Mantazima did get the winning try after the Waratahs came from behind to level things at 21-all.

Both sides were desperate at the end but mistakes start creeping in and the Bulls would have been happy to take the win from Loftus.
