France have received some good news when Paul Gabrillagues six week ban was reduce to three weeks after his appeal.
Stade Francais lock was banned for six weeks after a dangerous cleanout at a ruck during France test against Scotland a few weeks ago.
A statement from World Rugby read: “Having considered all the evidence and submissions by the player and his representative, the appeal committee determined that the act of foul play contrary to Law 9.20 merited a mid-range entry point, which has a starting point of six weeks.
“The appeal committee found that there were no aggravating factors, but in light of his admission, the fact the appeal committee accepted his account of the incident and other relevant features of mitigation, the committee reduced the suspension to three weeks.”
This means Gabrilagues will be out of action till the 6th October which means, if he is selected for the World Cup, he will only be a out for two more matches.
France will take on Italy this weekend in another warmup match before they move on to Japan for the World Cup
