The Highlanders stuck it out at the end to take a win over the Brumbies on Saturday when they beat them 18-13.
The Aussie leaders against the Highlanders who has struggled to get wins this year so far against New Zealand teams was the second match on Saturday
Brumbies took an early lead of 3-0 and both teams struggled to get more points in the first 20 minutes of the game.
The Brumbies put allot of pressure on the Highlanders in the set pieces which gave them great field position.
The Brumbies again with a brilliant set piece in the lineout caught the Highlanders napping and scored on the blindside for their first try.
That took their lead to 10-0 after 27 min.
The Highlanders did come back in the last 7 minutes of the half camping out in the Brumbies twenty-two and they got the reward when they scored their first try just before halftime to make the score 10-5 at the break.
The second half started with a few handling errors but the Brumbies got in the Highlanders half and got another penalty over to take the lead to 13-5 after 50 min.
The Highlanders hit back with a penalty of their own taking the lead to only 13-8 after 52 min.
The two team hold each other well for most part of the match and mistakes also did not help their attacking in the game.
The Highlanders reduced the score to 13-11 with another penalty with 15 minutes to go.
The Highlanders finally broke the Brumbies defense and scored their second try to take the lead 18-13 after 74 min.
This left us with an exciting finished to a disappointing match from these two teams in the last 5 minutes.
The Brumbies had two changes with attacking scrums at the Highlanders line but murdered both chances giving the Highlanders the chance to get away from their line.
The Brumbies got another chance after the hooter but could not get the drive going from the lineout and the Highlanders took the win with 18-13 at the end.
