Bulls and Springbok lock Lood de Jager has been ruled out of Saturday’s Super Rugby derby clash against the Stormers with a calf injury.

De Jager sustained the injury in the defeat to the Crusaders last Friday and compounds the Bulls’ problems in the second-row with RG Snyman having broken a cheekbone in the previous match against the Chiefs.

Bulls coach John Mitchell may be forced to turn to Ruben van Heerden or Hendre Stassen in the second-row alongside Jason Jenkins this week.

Meanwhile, Stormers scrum-half Dewaldt Duvenage is a major doubt for the clash with a rib injury, but fortunately for the men from Cape Town, Jano Vermaak returns from injury at the perfect time.
