The Hurricanes showed their class in the second half to beat the Lions 37-17 on Saturday.

It was an even first half but from the first second of the second period the Hurricanes took control and never let go really.

It was disappointing all over for the Lions not being able to show any dominance like last week against the Stormers.

Both teams was feeling each other out in the first few minutes testing the defensive systems.

With six minutes gone it was Ngani Laumape that got through the midfield in the Lions defence to take a early 7-0 lead.

The Lions came back right away when Aphiwe Dyantyi got the home side first try with a kick ahead which he gathered to dive over.

The Lions spend the next few minutes in the Hurricanes twenty two and also getting a few penalties their way but at the end only came away with three points to take the lead 10-7.

The Lions then lost Kwagga Smith which looked like a hamstring injury.

The game settled a bit with the Hurricanes playing for field position with the Lions having to attack from deep.

The Hurricanes even things up with a penalty from Jordie Barrett just before the break.

It was the worst possible start from the Lions in the second half when Orie could not take the kickoff with Lam taking full advantage and over.

It took not long for the visitors got more points first with a penalty and then a second try in the second half.

The Lions did get their try after a great break from Jantjies which send Aphiwe Dyantyi over for his second try of the match.

The Hurricanes then hit back with again some great hands to get over for their forth try of the match and a lead of 32-17.

The Hurricanes kept the pressure on the Lions who was fading and Coles got over from a lineout to extend the lead again to 37-17 with 3 min to go.

The Lions just could not match the Hurricanes at the end. Both sides tried to get over the line after the hooter but it ended with the Hurricanes 37 Lions 17.
