Ireland moved to the number 1 spot in the world rankings after beating Wales 19-10 at home on Saturday.

It was their final warm-up match at home and they produced a much improved performance against Wales form last weeks win in Cardiff.

Kearney opened the scoring but Wales hit back immediately with a penalty from Halfpenny and a try from Parkes.

Ireland were impressive on the day and showed why they were World Rugby team of the year in 2018 in the second half.

With tries from Furlong and Ryan they went in the lead and never looked like they will loose the game.

Both sides picked a strong side for this test as they look forward to the World Cup in two weeks.

Ireland played with a greater intensity than Wales.

Ireland also showed that they can grind out till their opportunities come playing the patient game and waiting for Wales to make mistakes.

The set pieces was great for the home side and they dominated for longer periods of time.

A lot was said after the humiliation at Twickenham but the past two weeks we saw an Irish side that are able to work hard and win test matches.

If anybody thought they are suddenly not good enough to win the World Cup, then they have a surprise coming for them.

Ireland is worthy carrying the tag as the number one team in the world going into the World Cup.

The scorers:

Ireland: Tries: Kearney, Furlong, Ryan Cons: Sexton 2

Wales: Try: Parkes Con: Biggar Pen: Halfpenny Yellow Card: Beard
