Match Report – Sharks again their own worst enemy

The Sharks can only blame themselves for loosing the game against the Chiefs after again making just too many handling errors on attack.

It was another comeback from the Chiefs to take a 29-23 win on Saturday

The first ten minutes was all Chiefs attacking and playing in the Sharks half of the field.

The got some reward when they got points on the board through a penalty after 10 minutes. The Sharks struggled to get hands on the ball.

The Sharks had a good period with the ball in hand but the problem was they could not keep the ball in hand. Loosing ball in contact has been and still was a huge problem for the Sharks on attack.

The Chiefs got through that onslaught and with some direct play they got through the Sharks defence and Weber got over for the first try of the match.

Wit a lead of 10-0 the Sharks had it all to do to come back and they did just that. First Bosch got them on the board with a penalty and then Andrews got their first try after a kick down field.

This even up things at 10-all after 32 minutes.

The Sharks gave away a silly penalty which setup a Chiefs lineout on the Sharks line. The ball went through two phases before Mitch Karpik powered over.

This gave the home side a 17-10 lead but Bosch did manage to get another penalty over to reduce it again to 17-13 just before the break.

The Sharks put themselves under unnecessary pressure and the Chiefs quickly pushed them back into the Sharks half.

The Sharks finally got reward when they kept ball in hand when Botha powered over from a lineout to put the Sharks in the lead by 3 points.

With a lead of 23-17 the Sharks found them at the end of some poor refereeing when a ball that was kicked dead was judges to be a good kick by assistant referee.

This end up a lineout for the Chiefs which gave them the try.

The Sharks then let the Chiefs through with a simple try from some ordinary defence which gave the Chiefs the winning try.

The Sharks tried to get back that winning try but handling errors on attack just stop any chances they got in the last few minutes.
