Defence was key for the Sharks when they beat the Waratahs on Saturday 23-15
The Waratahs was quickly to pounce on the Sharks poor ability to exit from the kickoff.
They kept the Sharks pinned in their twenty two which eventually gave the home side a 3 point lead.
The Sharks got their hands on the ball and slowly moved into the Waratahs twenty two. From a penalty the Sharks went for a lineout and with and advantage they got Daniel Du Preez over for the first try and the lead.
Cameron Wright was found wanting on defence at the scrum when Jake Gordon got away to get the home side first try of the match.
The Sharks pulled three back to even the scoreboard up but the rest of the half was what could have been.
Both sides show no real intent and just too many handling errors or bad decision making on attack.
They went into the break 10-all.
The game still did not wanted to get going in the second half and the game turned a bit nasty when Holloway smacked Thomas du Toit with an elbow to the head for holding him back.

The Waratahs then lost Jack Dempsey with a yellow card for a spear tackle. This opened up it a bit for the Sharks and Esterhuizen worked hard to get over for their second try.
This gave them a 17-10 lead.
The next ten minutes must be some of the worst rugby we have seen all year with both teams making so much handling errors.
The Sharks Curwin Bosch finally got a penalty over to extend the lead to 20-10.
Bosch got another penalty over with 8 minutes to go to extend the lead to 23-10.
The Waratahs did manage to get over the line but neither the referee or TMO could see a grounding which seemed to have been their last chance.
The Waratahs got a few penalties after the hooter which ended in a try but Foley could not get the conversion over which left them with no points in this game.
