It looks like that there are still allot of people unhappy with the reason why Cheetah Captain Adriaan Strauss left the union and signed with the Blue “Bulls.

Strauss main reason for leaving according to Volksblad”, was a breakdown in negotiations to have a clause involving an independent investigation into Cheetahs rugby. While Strauss had advocated that a fresh perspective was required to move the team forward, the move was refused by the Cheetahs.

Behind the scenes, according to “Die Burger” unhappy old players, businesses and supporters have decided with the Vrybos Bond, to look at the Cheetahs future and success in the union. A meeting in the week was held to gather support and to look how they can demand the Cheetah Union to answer some honest and hard questions concerning the state of the Union.

A few old Springboks and Cheetahs players like (Barry Wolmarans, Gysie Pienaar, André Venter, Chris Badenhorst, Ross van Reenen, Theuns Stofberg en Eben Jansen), sponsors, suite owners and supporters in the union are very worried about the current state of the union.

Vrybos believes the Cheetahs belongs to all stake holders and they are looking at solutions to sort out the problems in the union and wants to force the union on positive changes like what happened in unions like the Bulls, Sharks and Western Province in recent years.

The Cheetahs had a poor Super Rugby campaign this year ending second last on the overall log and stone last in the South African conference. In the past few months about ten top players from the Cheetahs have signed with other union or went overseas to future their career.

Even in the junior teams the past couple of years the Cheetah teams have underperformed which is unacceptable for Vrybos. They also have question surrounding the management and coaching of the union. They are also not happy with the way that the Cheetahs have played in the last couple of games and that shows that there is problems.

Their biggest concern is that this trend and way the union is manage will force young players who would have come to the union to look at their future elsewhere.

One thing is for certain many people close to the union are worried about the state of the union and the negative vibe that there is amongst players, supporters and sponsors.
