One of South Africans modern day hero’s on the rugby field, Os Du Randt will be inducted in the World Rugby Hall of Fame, and it is about time I say.

Maybe just my personal opinion but Os Du Randt is one of those players that do not come along that often putting a Springbok jersey over his head.

SA Rugby president Mark Alexander said that this is a wonderful way to recognise the career of one of the best Springboks to ever play the game.

Os lifted the World Cup twice in 1995 and 2007 and actually came out of retirement to answer Jake Whites call for the class off 2007.

Beside playing for the Springboks and winning World Cups Os also lifted the Currie Cup with the Cheetahs in 2005 which was there first win in 29 years then.

He was the SA Player of the Year in 1997 and Player Player of the year in 2004. Beside all that accolades he was a player the whole South Africa liked.

Rassie Erasmus said”If there is one legend in South Africa rugby history , it’s him.”

Os played 80 times for the Springboks and there is no better way to honour the man than to induct him in World Rugby Hall of Fame.

Funny World Rugby Hall of Fame recognises those

Du Randt, 47, won the World Cup with South Africa in 1995 and 2007 and played 80 Tests for his country that demonstrating rugby’s character-building values of integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect.

Os Du Randt has that and plenty more as a person.

  1. Yep definite legend.

Actually I don’t think world rugby even saw the best of him. He was injured and retired in his prime, right before JW did the v smart move and pulled him back.

I doubt there has every been a faster test prop, or one that could hit so hard in the tackle.
