Rugby World Cup – Japan stun Ireland in another World Cup upset

Japan stun the rugby world again when they beat Ireland on Saturday 19-12.

They were never out of the game and kept the pressure on Ireland with some brilliant defence. Ireland had no answer for the Japanese game on attack.

The match started with first Ireland on attack running the ball from end to end before Japan took the ball and worked their way to Ireland line.

Both sides showed their attend that they want to score tries early on with some massive tackles also coming in from both sides.

Japan missed an opportunity to take the first point when a penalty was missed at goal.

This left the scoreboard at 0-0 after 10 minutes of play.

The first try came from the Irish after they dominated play deep in Japan half with a cross-kick that Ringrose beat everyone in the air to get over.

Japan hit back with a penalty to reduce the score to 5-3.

Ireland found themselves back in the Japanese half of the field through a few penalties that Japan was conceding. With another advantage the kick was again the magic when Rob Kearney got over this time.

This gave them a 12-3 lead after 23 minutes in the first half.

Japan showed plenty of intent and had some great opportunities but Ireland defence and specially their scramble defence was brilliant in the first half.

Japan did not gave up at all in that first half keeping the Irish pinned in their twenty two with every chance they got to run the ball.

They forced a penalty and reduce the score again to 12-6 after 33 minutes into the game.

Japan stayed in the game with a penalty before the end of the half to make the halftime score 12-9 for Ireland.

The second half saw Japan controlling the ball for longer periods of time and they put Ireland under huge pressure throughout.

With more ball in hand they finally got pass the Ireland defence when Kenki Fukuoka got over the line.

This gave them their first try and the lead for the first time im the match.

Ireland threw everything at Japan in that final five minutes but Japan defence hold and they even got an intercept with two minutes to go for a scrum five meter out of Ireland line.

Japan kept the ball and even with a steal form the Irish they could not get anything.

Japan again made history beating Ireland in another shock result.
