SA Rugby U21 Championship – Blue Bull U21 stay unbeaten


It was another great week for the Blue Bulls staying unbeaten in this year U21 competition.

Free State are the closest to the Blue Bulls with three wins from five matches. At this stage it looks like the Blue Bulls will be the team to beat this season.

The only team that put up some resistants so far was the Sharks last week.

Province got back to winning ways after last weeks close loss to Free State when they beat the Golden Lions 20-10 this weekend.

They had the lead throughout the match leading 10-3 at the break.

The difference really was the two tries from Sihle Njezula with two penalties from David Coetzer.

The Golden Lions only got one try through Dameon Venter.

Free State got the win over the Sharks in a high scoring match when they beat them 44-40.

Free State scored 7 tries to the 6 of the Sharks. Both teams let loose in the second half after Free State led 18-12 at the break.

Ruben Cross and Conan Le Fleur both score twice for Free State with Ruan Smit, Elrigh Louw and Philppus Johannes Krugell chipping in.

For the Sharks Sean Barnes, Marcell Barnard, Evan Roos, Henry Chamberlain, Caleb Dingaan and Le Roux Malan all got over the whitewash.

The Blue Bulls were just to good for the struggling Leopards side when they beat them 40-6 leading 19-6 at the break.

The Leopards have only won one match so far and on the bottom of the log.

The Blue Bulls tries came from Cabous Eloff, Hanru Sirgel, Vaughen Isaacs, Wian Van Niekerk, Lian Du Toit and Jay Cee Nel.

The Leopards only manage two penalties.
