SA Rugby U21 Championship – Playoff spots still up for grabs

SA Rugby U21 is heating up with the Blue Bulls and the Free State Cheetahs both on top of the log with 32 points.

Province are following them in second place on 28 with the Sharks on 18 points.

Here is a wrap of this weeks results:

Western Province were too strong for the Sharks at home when they ran out winners with 35-13.

Province scored 4 tries to the 2 of the Sharks and led 13-8 at the break.

Schalk Erasmus, Prince Orderson, Angelo Davids and Abner Van Reenen got over the white wash for Province with David Coetzer adding 3 penalties and two conversions in the match.

For the Sharks Dylan Richardson and Caleb Dingaan scored tries with Henry Chamberlain adding a penalty with the boot.

This win put some distance between Province and the Sharks on the log as the season comes to a close.

Free State beat the Leopards in a high scoring match this weekend which saw them move to the top of the log.

At the end the men from Bloemfontein beat the Leopards 52-40 after leading 38-26 at halftime.

They outscore the Leopards with 8 tries to 6 which was the difference at the end.

For the Free State Ruwald Van Der Merwe, Marthinus Boshoff, Conan Le Fleur and Cohen Enrique Jasper all scored twice for Free State with James Mollentze knocking over 6 conversions.

For the Leopards Sampie Swiegers, Ruben Dreyer, Siyabonga Khoza, Reinard Jordaan and Heinrich Botha scored tries with Andre Van Der Berg adding a try and 5 conversions for there 40 points.

The Blue Bulls had to fight hard in Johannesburg to get a win over the Golden Lions.

It was at the end the boots of Vaughen Isaacs and Theo Boshoff  that made the difference knocking over 3 penalties and 4 conversions.

The Golden Lions was leading at halftime with 26-17 but it was a brilliant second half for the Bulls that gave them the win.

The home side tries came from Cohen Kiewit, Mj Pelser, Travis Gordon, Shaun Williams and Tatenda Mujawo. Marc Morrison slotted 4 conversions over.

The Blue Bulls tries came from Keagan Johannes, Wian Van Niekerk, Richard Kriel and two from Gers Mouton.
