SA Rugby’s problems too big for Indaba – Jake

Jake White spoke to Vodacom Rugby on the state of South African Rugby….

“I don’t think that’s going to help,” former Springbok coach Jake White said of an imminent workshop between Allister Coetzee and South Africa’s Super Rugby coaches. “All that you’re going to hear from coaches in the system is exactly the same as what you heard 10 years ago.

“I think our problem is much greater than how we want to play the game. The results we’re getting now is not due to our style, the problem is much bigger than that. Unfortunately these players and this coaching staff are bearing the brunt of decisions that should have been made 10 years ago.”

  1. I tend to agree 100% with him. The problems we have is much bigger than coach and players. Systems and management is rotten to the core, playing style as a whole is confusing, each team playing different to the other. Quotas, systems, the list just grows. This indaba could help in the short term and we might actually win games end of the year, but it will only patch over our problems, won’t fix them.

  2. SA Rugby is just so incredibly toxic, as is everything ells where SA politics are involved. It was only a matter of time, and trying to change the system is virtually as impossible as changing the leadership within the ANC. The smell of death lingers wherever they have been involved.

  3. JUAN SMITH: “Die agterlyn lyk regtigwaar soos ’n skoolspan s’n. Daar word nie goeie lyne gehardloop nie, niemand slaan bresse nie. Daar is niemand wat die verdediging agterlangs aan die raai hou nie en dit lyk of daar geen plan is nie.”
