After winning the Castle Lager Rugby Championship last weekend the Springboks will say farewell to the South African fans when they play against Argentina again at Loftus.

A much changed Springboks side will be led out by Schalk Brits with Scarra Ntubeni to make his test debut from the bench.

There are eight players who won the Championship in the team with Thomas du Toit and Wilco Louw, Marco van Staden and potential debutant Scarra Ntubeni. Springbok captain Siya Kolisi will also return to the side after recovering from injury.

Kolisi recovery is still being managed so he will play only a cameo role.

Brits will become the oldest Springbok captain at 38 years and three months.

Reinach gets his opportunity to start the test with Elton Jantjies at ten. Leyds and Nkosi get their opportunity on the wing with Gelant at fullback.

  1. Oh well I guess no Serfontein – pity.

It’s s good team but I didn’t think the boks had it quite so good over the argies at the breakdown. Be interesting to see what happens at Loftus and In NZ this weekend.

  2. But SA does have some great depth. Leyds is a good selection at wing. He also can slot into the other positions. I’d take leads Leyds as the 4th wing over mapimpi. Aphiwe and Kolbe to start with Sbu, Kriel and Leyds as wing backup.

Pity we didn’t have this coach ages ago. That pack could probably take on anyone. Wilco Louw is a monster and it looks like he not even going to be on the RWC plane – then you got Carlu Sadie coming through. We never had so much prop depth, but it’s also at lock and loose forward. RG Snyman is bloody good too. He def must go to RWC cos if etsebeth goes down – only Snyman fits that bill. I’d start with both etsebeth and Snyman in a RWC final but Mostert’s engine is huge. 31 players gonna be difficult as hell.

Serfontein, JLDP and Willemse would be in my starting XV. Every RWC winning team has young stars and this is what Bok XV might be missing. Seems they not in RWC squad (but I’d have had them picked with Elton jamthies, Louw and Am). Thing is this Bok squad already potent under Rassie, but these 3 players would have moved team to a different level.
