Blue Bulls v Sharks

The Cell C Sharks got a well deserved win over the Blue Bulls on Wednesday at Loftus when the beat them 28-20.

This was the Blue Bulls first defeat in this year Currie Cup and not one that will sit nicely with the coaches nor players, especially at Loftus.

The Sharks led at the break 13-10 to take full points out of the game. The Blue Bulls made far too many errors in the game which the Sharks took full advantage of.

Nkosi scored the first try of the match which gave the Sharks the lead and the Blue Bulls on the back-foot from the start. The Blue Bulls did hit back minutes later through Burger Odendaal who scored under the poles. This gave the Blue Bulls the lead but it was given away when Franco Marais drove over the line for their second try.

Blue Bulls van Heerden was shown a yellow card for tripping a player but the Sharks could not capitalized on the card.

Both teams struggled with continuity and there was mistakes a plenty to end of the second half with the Sharks leading 13-10.

The break did not change much as both teams struggled to get going in the second half with far to many mistakes at this level. Lukhanyo Am broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when he ran in to score untouched and under the poles which April converting the try easily.

Jantjies and April traded penalties as both teams struggle in that second half. The Bulls score another try with Van Heerden going over for a try with 15 minutes left on the clock

The Sharkst April would have the final say of the match as he ran through the defence to score the visitor’s bonus point try and secure a 28-20 win in Pretoria.
