Small-Smith opts to leave Bulls for Cheetahs

Bulls centre William Small-Smith will further his career at the Cheetahs from next season, Netwerk24 reports.

The 23-year-old will represent the Blue Bulls in this year’s Currie Cup before heading for Bloemfontein in time for next year’s Super Rugby competition.

Small-Smith was schooled at Grey College in Bloemfontein where he represented Free State in the Craven Week.

After school, he represented teams like the Baby Boks, Blitzboks, Tuks and Blue Bulls.

It is believed that Small-Smith wanted out at the Bulls and asked to join the Cheetahs.

He is the fourth player who approached the Cheetahs in recent times.

Fred Zeilinga (Sharks, flyhalf), Sias Ebersohn (Western Force, flyhalf) and Neil Rautenbach (WP, hooker) all recently signed contracts with the Bloemfontein-franchise.

  1. Congrats Small-Smith….
Surely this conversion will bring about a name change so now consider which to drop – the Small or the Smith.
    & go sin no more.

  2. @DavidS:

Ebersohn will be competing for the 10 spot… Small-Smith is a midfielder… Cheetahs going to need some beef in the midfield to partner these two if they start…
