Devastating news for Ulster loose forward Marcell Coetzee, when it was announced that he will miss the RWC.
It was confirmed by the Springbok Management that Coetzee will undergo ankle surgery on Wednesday.
Coetzee hurt his ankle on Saturday and also got a blow to the head in the test against Argentina. It is believed that Coetzee will be out of action for 12 weeks.
Erasmus also released Lizo Gqoboka, Marvin Orie, Thomas Du Toit and Andre Esterhuizen to their provinces and will be available for the Currie Cup.
They were part of the 36 players that gathered in Bloemfontein on Sunday to start a World Cup camp.
They will join their provinces on Tuesday
