Stonehouse ready to coach Bulls

Jimmy Stonehouse said over the weekend that he will be eager to be the next head coach of the Bulls after John Mitchell has excepted a position with Eddie Jones at England.

Stonehouse are currently with the Pumas after a few years in Japan. Stonehouse told Netwerk24 that he is ‘hoping and praying’ that he would become the new Bulls coach.

I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this for long. I turned down another offer four weeks ago because I realised I wanted to coach here (in South Africa). I hope I get a chance. If it doesn’t happen this time around, then I know it’s not meant to be.

Personally I believe Stonehouse will be good at the Bulls and just what he and the Bulls need at this moment in time.

  1. Bunny, not to sound like DavidS, but try typing in word, run spell checker and then post. I don’t mind it that much in general, but it is becoming worse, I am by no means perfect but just on the articles please. It seems really amateur in articles. I know you have an actual job and this takes up most of your spare time, so if you don’t I will still be here.

  2. Bunny, who cares about spell-check. You do you.
Were you to run the headline through a morality-check it would read:

” Stonehouse Giddy At Prospect of Selling His Soul ”

Which is easy beats for Satan as he usually has to steal them.

  3. Yip forget spell-check – this is a rugby blog. Nothing wrong. Far prefer it that there is someone who actually knows about rugby.

  4. @Jacques: nah, wasn’t meant to insult you bunny. I like your articles and am greatful for the time and effort you put in to keep ruggaworld up and running.

  5. On Stonehouse, he is the type of coach under which we have our best results. Apparently team discipline went to shreds at the Boks under AC, but under Rassie, they landed in SA, zero babelas from an after party. Same as with the Bulls under Ludeke and Nollis. The guys drank till who knows what time and went out evening before a game. So hopefully either him or Dobson of the SA coaches gets the gig.

  6. So he’s put up his hand and said, I want the job. He is on the Bulls wishlist. Why not let JM go now and get him in to start working. Or is it going to be a typical SA wait till the last minute stuff up. I now transfer fees over JM still need to be sorted out, but he wants to go, let him go. No use waiting.

  7. I see die burger reports that England has agreed to a transfer fee of between R3 million and R4,4 Million for Mitchell. So can the Bulls just employ Stonehouse

  8. So he just arrived at the Pumas and then proceeds to tell everyone that he would rather coach the Bulls? I thought he was back at the Pumas to assist them in improving with an eye on maybe getting into European competition in the future?

Anyway, I am probably biased, but I would love to see what Dobson can do given time with a Super rugby team. WP Rugby is not going to utilise him soon, so sould prefer if he can get a shot somewhere else.
