Stormers fined over R200K

The Stormers have been fined over R 200 000.00 for bringing the game into disrepute.

A SANZAR Judicial Hearing conducted by Mr Terry Willis (Australia) has found the Stormers Team guilty of Misconduct under the SANZAR Code of Conduct following charges of insulting and offensive conduct towards Match Officials during the Stormers vs Hurricanes match on 26 April 2013.

The Stormers Team has been found to have brought the game into disrepute and breached Section 8.3 of the SANZAR Code of Conduct:

a) All persons must ensure the game is played and conducted in accordance with disciplined and sporting behaviour and acknowledge that it is not sufficient to reply solely upon the Match Officials to maintain those principles;

l) All persons shall not use crude or abusive language or gestures towards referees, assistant referees, Match Officials or spectators.

The Stormers Team has admitted its behaviour and accepted, that insulting and offensive conduct towards match officials was a breach of the SANZAR Code of Conduct and has no place in rugby and has unreservedly apologised to the Match Officials and Mr Sheldon Eden-Whaitiri in particular.

The Stormers Team have been fined the maximum financial penalty of A$15,000 for the insulting and offensive conduct towards Match Officials and A$10,000 for bringing the game into disrepute and also ordered to pay SANZAR’s costs.

The hearing resumed on Wednesday following extended adjournments to allow the Stormers Team to seek independent legal advice in the interests of fairness to all parties.

The Judicial Officer directed SANZAR and the Stormers Team, save for the SANZAR Chief Executive Officer responding to the media in terms consistent with the media release, no person involved in the proceedings will make any further comment in respect of this matter.

  1. why only now? Stormers have brought the game into disrepute for years now by forcing people to watch the game in a stadium with one toilet and one bar and by not acting against the booing of kickers.

It should be the biggest and wealthiest union in the world.

Dare I suggest its the most unprofessional one?

  2. So does this mean S15 is going to GIVE the Fun-N-Gun Cheetahs $$ because they make the game glorious?

  3. What happened to the Sharks players when they were screaming at the ref. when they played the Cheetahs?

  4. it is not sufficient to rely solely upon the Match Officials to maintain those principles;—— SO they are going to fix home town refereeing?

  5. Fok Bunny…

    Donker Afrika

I’ve just surfaced after three days of Donker Afrika because of cables “damaged” by a “contractor” in Kempton Park…

Unwanted cold showers in winter is nie lekker nie… luckily I could go to the gym to do it… but it would have looked a little weird if all the MMA fighters find me and my three little girls naked in their showers…

  6. Reply to Jacques(Bunny)Somtimes I sits and thinks and sometimes I just sits @ 12:30 pm:

dude nickelback is one of the most supported bands in the world. thats not the point.

You travel down to CT for a Bok game that costs R500 a ticket and then have to stand in a line for 30 minutes to piss after waiting 30 for a beer then you’d understand why only Capetonians like Newlands and thats only cause their dads liked going there back in the day when WP scored tries.

In the real world Newlands means nothing because its a run down old kip and now with the team losing and the management behaving lie moegoes on the side while abroad I reckon its time the average Cape fan asks himself if its all worth it still.

Move to the new stadium, fire some of those amateur officials and embrace the rugby style you once were famous for or risk dying out.
