At the end the game of rugby won at Cape Town stadium with Marvel and DSTV Super Her Sunday.

South African franchises can take a page out of their book concerning pricing of tickets and making the game entertaining for all people.

How great was it to see the kids back in our stadiums and a real festival atmosphere throughout the day.

It seems the players also bought into the whole idea which made it something special.

In the first match the Lions and Sharks faced off with the Lions taking the win at the end.

The game in it’s whole was not as good as the Bulls v Stormers game with both teams making a lot of mistakes and struggle to get going.

There was some good things from both sides which they will take forward but still a lot of work to be done before Super Rugby starts in two weeks.

One must understand that this is a warmup match and not too much must be read into the result or even the game of the teams.

The Sharks and Lions have been the two top teams in last years competition for South Africa and have plenty of talent within their side.

We can expect a major improvement when they take on the Sunwolves and Jaguares in their first round matches.

Scorers

Sharks

Tries: Makazole Mapimpi, Akker vd Merwe

Conversions: Curwin Bosch (2)

Lions

Tries: Malcolm Marx, Courtnall Skosan, Sylvian Mahuza

Conversions: Elton Jantjies (2)

The Stormers v Bulls match had much more intensity and both teams were out to play some rugby.

The Stormers were in front early on as they exposed the Bulls on their mistakes which turned into three tries in the opening quarter.

The Bulls showed a lot of guts to comeback from 21-0.

There was still too many mistakes from both sides as they set out to try a few things.

At the end the Stormers had to fight hard to steal the match 33-28 from the Bulls through a try from their captain Van Zyl.

The Bulls looked very good and there are plenty of good signs for them to take to the Super Rugby competition.

To come back from 21-0 down shows a lot of character so early in the season.

Both sides can be happy with their defensive effort they put in the match.

Scorers

Stormers

Tries: Seabelo Senatla, Josh Stander, SP Marais, Juarno Augustus, Chris van Zyl

Conversions: SP Marais (3), Damian Willemse

Penalties

Bulls

Tries: Handre Pollard, Ivan van Zyl, Warrick Gelant, Paul Schoeman

Conversions: Handre Pollard (4)

What was on display makes one feel that this may be a year that SA Franchises can compete in this competition.

Big ups to DSTV, SuperSport and Marvel for a great initiative and hopefully this will be a yearly event.
