The Blue Bulls will have Marco van Staden back this weekend in their Currie side starting off the bench.
Coach Pote Human has also selected Herbst to start in the front row as both will make their first appearance in the Currie Cup.
The Blue Bulls have a difficult one facing the Cheetahs this weekend after they lost the first one against Province over the weekend at Newlands.
Van Staden was released from the Springbok group and will be a great added bonus for the Blue Bulls this weekend.
Herbst will take over from Van Vuuren and Van Staden willl take the pace of Smit on the bench.
Smit will start inplace of Vosloo who is injured.
In the second row Ferreira will make his first start for the Blue Bulls against his former side replacing Lood De Jager who was called up to the Springboks.
“We need to be at our best. The Toyota Free State Cheetahs will be well-rested and have some really good players available. They will be very keen to get their season started. We have to start well, keep playing well and finish well in this one. We created some chances last week, but with some of our phases not functioning as it should have, we never really managed to force dominance. That needs to change this weekend,” said Human.
The game will kick-off at 19h15 on Friday and will be live on SuperSport
