Vodacom Blue Bulls name junior teams for EP Kings clashes



Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-21 coach Handré Marnitz changed his halfback pairing for Friday’s Absa Under-21 provincial championships match against the EP Kings in Port Elizabeth.

Marnitz pushed Kobus Marais from the bench into the number ten jersey, with Joshua Stander moving down to the bench from the team that had a close win over the Cell C Sharks two weeks ago. At scrumhalf, Impi Visser will start, with Theo Maree dropping to the bench and JP Smith losing out.

Dayan van der Westhuizen’s injury also results in a change to the front row, with Matthys Basson starting at tighthead and Johan van Wyk moving onto the bench. At hooker, Corniel Els will replace Arno van Wyk.

The team is: Ganfried May, Jixie Molapo, Marquit September, Adrian Maebane, Duhan van der Merwe, Kobus Marais, Impi Visser, Jsuanre Swanepoel, Abongile Nonkontwana, Marco van Staden, Nicholaas Janse van Rensburg (c), Jason Jenkins, Matthys Basson, Corniel Els, Stefaan Grundlingh. Replacements: Jan van der Merwe, Johan van Wyk, Riekert Hattingh, Heinrich Viljoen, Theo Maree, Joshua Stander, Peet Schoeman

Groepes changes four for log leaders

The Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-19 coach Hayden Groepes made four changes to his starting team to face Absa Under-19provincial championship log leaders, EP Kings, at the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Friday.

Brendan Owen (fullback), Curtley Prins (wing), Denzil Hill (no8) and Sam Mitchel are all new to the starting team that played against the Cell C Sharks two weeks ago.

All played off the bench in that match.

The team is: Brendan Owen, Curtley Prins, Ruan de Beer, Franco Naude, Divan Rossouw, Tinus de Beer (c), Stephan Enslin, Denzil Hill, Sam Mitchel, Justin Meintjies, Eli Snyman, Aston Fortuin, Jaco Holtzhausen,Alandre van Rooyen, Gavin van den Berg. Replacements: Franco van der Berg, Madot Mabokela, Wynand de Necker, Dean van der Westhuizen, Luiqy van Jaarsveld, Dale Hendricks, JT Jackson, Coneree Poole.
