After eighteen weeks of Super Rugby we are down to just eight teams that will compete next week in the quarter finals of this years competition.

The Crusaders, Brumbies and Jaguares automatic got through for home quarter finals as they came out on top of their conferences.

The forth home quarter final goes to the Hurricanes who ended up forth on the overall log.

This last weekend of matches had plenty of permutation and there was a few teams gunning for those final wild card spot and at the end we have seen three New Zealand teams, two South African teams, one Australian team and the Jaguares qualify for the playoffs.

The Crusaders will play all of their playoff matches at home with a possible final as well. The Jaguares ending second overall and winners of the South African conference have secure a home quarter final and semi final. If the Crusaders slip up somehow, they may even host the final as well.

As it ended the Highlanders who sneaked into the finals with a great win over the Waratahs on Friday will travel and play the Crusaders.

This match will be payed on Friday at the Christchurch Stadium.

The Chiefs also got into the playoffs after a great win over the Rebels and will play the Jaguares in Argentina in the early ours of Saturday morning.

The third quarter final will be hosted by the Hurricanes on Saturday and the will face the Bulls who had a impressive win over the Lions at Loftus.

In the last quarter final we will see the Aussie conference winners, the Brumbies hosting the Sharks at the GIO Stadium also Saturday morning.

The winners of these matches will face off in the semi finals with the highest seeded team hosting the semi finals.

The Jaguares and Crusaders seems to be the front runners to make it all the way to the final, but as we know anything can happen in a once-off match and one should not count out any surprises that may come our way next weekend.

The big losers this weekend was the Stormers who lost the game against the Sharks after the hooter on Saturday. The game against the Sharks was noting to write home to about but at the end the Sharks did enough to stay alive in the competition.

The Jaguares will have a difficult game against the Chiefs who has been the one team that has shown the best form the last couple of weeks and the they are a team that can win away from home.

The Jaguares have not yet progress any further than the quarter finals so they will be out to do one better atleast this year, specially playing at home.

The Hurricanes and Bulls game seemed to be an interesting prospect with the performance the Bulls have put together against the Lions.

It seems they have got back that confidence and momentum since their tour a few weeks ago.

If they can produce the same standard they may just cause an upset. The Bulls also have the luxury of having a lot of their injured players back which will make a huge difference.

The Sharks will have to find some form if they want to take on the Brumbies. The Brumbies have gone by their business very quietly and in my eyes a dark horse.

They have a great balanced side and may just surprise a few people.

If the Sharks can play to the potensial the have, they may just be able to challenge the Brumbies in their own back yard.

Whatever happens we are in for some great playoff matches this weekend coming and not one game is a given.
