Whiteley gives Jaco Kriel an emotional farewell

Being teammates for so long Lions captain had to hold back the emotions when he say goodbye to not just a teammate but also a friend on Saturday after they beat the Waratahs.

Jaco Kriel was born in Standerton before he joined UJ in the Varsity Cup. He also played Craven week at school.

Coming through the ranks at the Lions he has been one of the most inspirational players for the team in the last few years which saw him earn his Springbok colours in 2016 against the Irish.

A shoulder injury kept him out of last years Rugby Championship and he did not recover well as he was unavailable for the Lions throughout the Super Rugby season.

He was also a great leader for the Lions and step up every-time Whiteley was unavailable

  1. Watch this and see how much he does off the ball and how he hits rucks and cleans out and fetches. There is no other opensider. Kolisi has wet dreams that he is this good.
