Lions and Springbok captain Warren Whiteley face yet another setback from a recurring knee injury.
Whiteley started training on Monday but felt discomfort and his knee swelled up overnight.
He was supposed to made his comeback against the Waratahs this weekend but he was send for a scan.
Although team doctor Rob Collins suggested it was a precautionary measure, it remains to be seen if Whiteley will be able to join the squad later on in their tour.
This is another huge setback not just for Whiteley but also the Lions who are traveling for the next few weeks.
