Carling Currie Cup Final – Bulls smash Sharks in Final

The Vodacom Bulls made easy work on Saturday to retain the Carling Currie Cup beating the Sharks 44-10

They let the Sharks play more rugby and trusted their defence and score when the opportunities came around. The Sharks was poor in defence and average on attack throughout the game.

The Sharks had a great start to the game putting the ball through the hands and a lot of pressure on the home side but it was the Bulls that scored first through Vorster.

From a lineout, the first time in the Sharks half the ball was given to Vorster who found a great gab to score the first try of the final. That gave them a 5-0 lead early on.

The Sharks played in the right areas of the field with most of the ball as well but great defence form the Bulls kept them out leaving them without any points 18 minuets into the game.

The Bulls again got themselves back in the Sharks half and again they found plenty of space in the midfield to send Mapoe over this time to stretch that lead to 12-0.

The Bulls got again back inside the Sharks twenty two and from a penalty tab it was their captain Coetzee that bulldozer over the line to extend the lead to 19-0.

The Sharks did eventually got on the board with a penalty from Bosch but went into halftime 19-3 behind and all the work to do in the second half.

The Bulls extended their lead with another three points straight after halftime. The Bulls kept the pressure on the Sharks wand with some good interplay between backs and forwards it was Swanepoel that got over for their 4th try of the final.

Next was Burger who founded plenty of space around the ruck to score another for the Bulls and a lead of 36-3.

The Sharks finally got a try when the Bulls messed up a linnet close to their line to give Thomas du Toit his try. That reduce the lead to 36-10 but Smith extended the lead again to 39-10 minutes later.

The Bulls got another one just before the end of the game with Cornal Hendricks getting a foot in from a kick by the Sharks to pick up and score for the home side.

That gave the Bulls the cherrie on the cake retains the Carling Currie Cup
