URC – Edinburgh and Stormers share the spoils

After 80 minutes there was nothing to separate the two teams as they shared the spoils at the end. There was plenty of opportunities for both sides to put the game away in the second half but some good defence and handling errors kept the score at deadlock till the end.

It was fast a furious fro both teams with the home side looking their opportunities with Jaco van der Walt showing his class putting layers in space and send Darcy Graham over for the first try.

That gave them a 7-0 lead and it took not long for Van der Merwe to again found space in the Stormers backline this time putting Ben Vellacott away for their second try.

The Stormers hit back with brilliant play from the team to put the ball through the hands to send Gelant over for their first try. They almost immediately got within four points with a penalty from Swiel which brought them right back into the match.

Edinburgh extended their lead when they knocked over a penalty after they got in the Stormers half again but the Stormers attacking play left the home side scrambling in defence for most of the first half.

They were rewarded with a brilliant try by De Wet after a great break by Roos that opened it up for his nine. With the conversion over from Swiel it was 17 all with minutes to go in the first half.

The home side got the lead back with a penalty but Swiel got the scores back to level terms on the stroke of halftime.

Edinburgh had the better of the ball and field position early on in the second half forcing the Stormers back in their own half and defending to keep their runners out. Only small little handling errors kept the home side form putting more points on the board.

Although there was plenty of play from both sides in the second half and plenty of opportunities wasted left them not adding anything to the halftime score.

Pretty good defence from both side also did not make it easy for the teams to get over the advantage line as the rain also came in play later in the match. At the end it was maybe a try reflection of the match.
